Pick two places to live, such as two neighbourhoods or two towns. Every figure Bytky has for them goes side by side, and each row says which one is ahead, or that they’re about the same. There’s no overall winner: which rows matter is yours to weigh.

By public transport and on foot, leaving at 8:00 on a weekday, between the place you pick and the middle of each area.
Pick a place to time the trip from both.
How the comparison works
Every figure comes from the listings Bytky tracks today and from the maps behind the neighbourhood finder. Each row marks the side that’s ahead, or calls the two about the same when they’re within the row’s margin.
What each row is
- Rents and prices are the medians of the flats of the size on offer now, rents with charges. A median needs 5 flats, or the row shows a dash.
- The gross yield is twelve months of the median rent per m² over the median price per m², for flats of the size.
- Days on the market is the median time the flats on offer now have been listed.
- Transit, amenities, schools, parks, noise and green land are the neighbourhood finder’s facts over the homes on the market in each area. Nightlife is the bars and pubs inside it a km².
- A trip is timed between the place you pick and the middle of each area, by public transport and on foot, in bands of 15 minutes.
When two figures are about the same
- Rents and prices: within 5% of each other.
- The yield: within 0.25 percentage points.
- Days on the market: within 20%, or 3 days.
- Flats on offer: within 10%, or 2 flats.
- Scores: within 5 points. Shares of homes or land: within 5 percentage points.
- Nightlife: within 15%, or 0.5 a km².
- Trips: in the same 15-minute band.
What it leaves out
- What homes sold or let for: these are asking prices and rents.
- The flat itself: a quiet courtyard flat in a lively area, or a renovated one in a cheap area.
- An overall winner: which rows matter most is yours to decide.
Questions
Comparing areas, answered
How do I choose between two neighbourhoods?
Start with what you can’t change: your budget and the trip to work or school. Put the two areas side by side here, see which one is ahead on the rows that matter to you, then visit both on a weekday morning and on a Friday night.
What does “about the same” mean?
Two figures closer than the row’s margin, such as rents within 5% of each other, aren’t a real difference: a few listings more or less would swap them. The method above lists every row’s margin.
Where do the figures come from?
Rents, prices, the yield and the days on the market come from every listing Bytky tracks today, medians of the flats of the size you pick. The facts about living there are the neighbourhood finder’s, from the city’s noise and green maps, the places around each home and its public transport.
Can I compare towns and districts, not just neighbourhoods?
Yes. Any area with a page on Bytky can go on either side, from a region to a single neighbourhood. The facts about living there cover the neighbourhoods of Prague and Brno, and trips are timed in Prague and Central Bohemia.
Why is there no overall winner?
Because the answer depends on you. A family may weigh schools and parks, a student nightlife and rent, an investor the yield. Each row says which area is ahead on it, and the summary lists them side by side.
