Who's listed

A firm is listed only when all of these hold. Bytky lists firms; it doesn't rate, recommend or vouch for them.

  1. It's registered and active in ARES, the business register, and its IČO is on its own website.
  2. It holds a trade licence that covers cleaning homes or buildings, active in the trade register.
  3. It's easy to contact: a website, a phone number, and an email or a quote form.
  4. It has strong public reviews: one source with at least 20 reviews, averaging at least 90% on Firmy.cz or 4.5 of 5 on Google or Trustpilot.
  5. It cleans homes in Prague with its own cleaners, or offices and buildings for the section below the list. Marketplaces that pass a job to an independent cleaner aren't listed.

Choosing a cleaning company in Prague

What does an end-of-tenancy clean cover?

Usually the whole flat once it's empty: the kitchen inside and out (oven, hob, extractor, fridge and cupboards), the bathroom and toilet descaled, windows and frames, floors, doors, skirting and switches. You hand the flat back in the state you took it over in, apart from normal wear (Civil Code §2293), and a dirty flat can cost you part of the deposit. Ask your landlord what they expect, send the firm that list, and book the clean for a day or two before the handover.

How do I choose a cleaning company?

Ask two or three firms for a quote with the flat's size, what you want cleaned and the date. Ask whether the price is fixed or by the hour, whether they bring their own products, whether they're insured if something breaks, how they handle your keys, and whether they come back if a clean isn't right.

Does a cleaning company need a licence?

Yes. Cleaning for others is a trade, so a firm needs a trade licence (živnostenský list) for it: cleaning homes and buildings is part of the free trade under Government Order 278/2008. Every firm on this list holds one, and each firm's page links to its entry in ARES.
