- Taxes for foreignersIf you have a home here or spend 183 days here in a year, Czechia taxes all your income, wherever it's earned. Employees with one job usually sign a declaration and let the employer settle the year. Most others with income over 50,000 Kč file a return: for 2026 income, by 1 April 2027 on paper, or later online or through a tax adviser.In English
- Trade licence and freelancingMost freelance work in Czechia runs on a trade licence. You notify a trade at any trade office for 1,000 Kč, and with most trades you can start the same day. Non-EU nationals register first and get their visa or permit afterwards. Then you tell social security within 15 days, and your health insurer within 8.In English
- Contributions when self-employedAs a sole trader you pay monthly advances for pension and health insurance, then settle the year with two overviews. Since July 2026 the minimum for a main activity is 5,005 Kč a month for pension insurance (less in your first years) and 3,306 Kč for health insurance. A side business next to a job usually pays far less.In English
- Unemployment supportIf you lose your job, you register as a job seeker at the Labour Office (Úřad práce). With 12 months of work in the last 2 years, you get unemployment benefit: 80% of your net earnings at first, for 5 to 11 months depending on your age. Most non-EU foreigners need permanent residence to register.In English
