Read in this order if you’re new to it.

  1. Public transport in PraguePrague's metro, trams, buses, ferries and PID trains share one set of tickets. Buy single tickets in the PID Lítačka app, where they cost less than paper, and once you live here, an annual pass is the cheapest way to travel every day.In English
  2. Driving licenceAn EU licence works in Czechia for as long as it's valid. A licence from outside the EU works if it follows the Vienna or Geneva road traffic convention, but once you're granted permanent residence or a stay of more than a year, you have 3 months to apply to exchange it. The exchange costs 200 Kč at the office for where you live.In English
  3. Importing a carOnce you live in Czechia, a car you keep here needs Czech plates. You register it at a municipal office with extended powers: in 2026 that costs 800 Kč, or 640 Kč if you start online. A car from outside the EU first needs customs clearance and an individual approval. In English
