No trams between Florenc and Palmovka on 7–8 November, and what runs instead

Track repairs around Florenc change trams and buses from 2 to 13 November. The biggest change is the weekend: from Saturday to Monday morning no trams run between Florenc and Palmovka, and X3 buses take their place through Karlín.

What's closed, and when?

The tram track between Florenc and Palmovka is closed both ways from about 04:30 on Saturday 7 November until about 04:30 on Monday 9 November, for repairs, the notice from Prague Integrated Transport (PID) says. The transport company, DPP, publishes the same notice. This is decided, with routes and stops published.

Around it come smaller changes:

  • Monday 2 to Friday 13 November (about 04:30 to about 04:30): the Florenc stop for buses 207, 908 and 909 towards Bílá labuť moves from Ke Štvanici to Křižíkova street, to the buses' setting-down stop. From Friday 6 to Monday 9 November, the Florenc stop towards Žižkov for buses 133, 175, 207, 908 and 909 moves to Křižíkova too.
  • Wednesday 4 November, 04:30, to the end of Thursday 5 November: Florenc – Těšnov is closed in one direction. Line 12 towards Sídliště Barrandov runs Florenc – Bílá labuť – Náměstí Republiky – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Kamenická.
  • 6–7 November and 9–13 November (04:30 to 04:30): part of the Na Poříčí and Těšnov junction is closed to trams coming from Florenc (6 November, 9–13 November). Some line 7 trams, line 12 towards Barrandov and line 23 go round through Náměstí Republiky and Strossmayerovo náměstí.

Neither of these two tram changes has replacement buses.

Which lines change on 7–9 November?

Eight tram lines change and two temporary ones run. As PID gives the routes ("…" means the rest of the route isn't listed):

LineWhat changes, 7–9 November
3 and 7One way only, through Masarykovo nádraží – Náměstí Republiky – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Vltavská – Bílá labuť

32 (temporary, daytime)Vozovna Kobylisy – Kobylisy – Bulovka – Palmovka – Nádraží Vysočany – Kolbenova – Hloubětín – Lehovec
33 (temporary, daytime)Březiněveská – Kobylisy – Bulovka – Palmovka – Nádraží Libeň – Starý Hloubětín
92 and 94 (night)Split in two: one part runs through Bílá labuť – Vltavská – Strossmayerovo náměstí to Výstaviště, the other from Lehovec to Palmovka
X3 (day), X92 (night)Replacement buses, Masarykovo nádraží – Palmovka

The X3 bus stops, as PID lists them:

  • Towards Palmovka: Masarykovo nádraží (on Havlíčkova, about 50 metres past the Na Florenci junction), Bílá labuť (on Na Poříčí, at the tram stop), Florenc (on Ke Štvanici, at the stop bus 207 normally uses; that weekend 207 itself stops on Křižíkova), Karlínské náměstí (on Sokolovská, past U Nádražní lávky), then Křižíkova, Urxova and Invalidovna (on Sokolovská, at the tram stops). It sets you down at Palmovka on Na Žertvách.
  • Towards the centre: it picks up at Palmovka at the tram stops on Na Žertvách and Zenklova, then stops at Invalidovna (at a stop set up for the replacement buses), Urxova, Křižíkova, Karlínské náměstí (before U Nádražní lávky) and Florenc (on Ke Štvanici, at bus 207's usual stop). PID's list for this direction ends at Florenc.

The X92 night bus starts at the tram stop on Havlíčkova at Masarykovo nádraží, then uses the X3's stops from Bílá labuť to Palmovka. Towards the centre it picks up at Palmovka on Na Žertvách and on Sokolovská before Heydukova (not on Zenklova), uses the X3's stops from Invalidovna to Florenc, and ends at the tram stop on Havlíčkova.

How do I get from A to B?

Between Karlín or Palmovka and the centre, the X3 runs along Sokolovská, stopping at the tram stops. The weekend notice doesn't mention the metro. PID's station list puts metro line B at Florenc, Křižíkova, Invalidovna and Palmovka, along the same corridor, and when trams stopped here briefly on 21 October, DPP's notice said that between Florenc, Invalidovna and Palmovka "you can use the parallel metro line B" (our translation). PID's list of changes showed no metro B closure for that weekend when we checked on 31 October; check the journey planner before you set off.

From Kobylisy, Bulovka, Libeň, Vysočany or Hloubětín, temporary lines 32 and 33 take you to Palmovka, where the X3 starts. Palmovka is also a metro B station.

At Florenc, mind the metro exits. Since 31 January 2025, people leaving the line C platform can only exit towards Sokolovská and Křižíkova (exits E6, E2 and E3), and with the lift in the closed hall the line C station isn't step-free, PID says. It suggests other step-free stations or low-floor surface lines.

What about night trams?

Night lines 92 and 94 are split in two for the weekend, and the X92 bus covers Masarykovo nádraží – Palmovka between the two parts. That matters more at night: PID gives the metro's hours as about 05:00 to midnight. At Palmovka, night trams from Lehovec set you down on Sokolovská and pick up on Na Žertvách. Night line 90, which runs through Palmovka during the Žižkov works, isn't on the weekend notice.

Where can I check live changes?

Use PID's journey planner or the PID Lítačka app, which plans journeys, sells tickets and sends notices of closures. Search with the date you travel: PID says that gives exact departures during short closures. There's also:

On Bytky, Getting around shows the lines near a listing, how often they run and live departures, and public transport in Prague covers tickets, passes and night lines.

What else changes on the same corridor?

Žižkov. Trams between Nákladové nádraží Žižkov and Ohrada have been stopped since 11 October and are due to stay stopped until Friday 18 December, PID says, while DPP modernises the track in Jana Želivského street. "The modernisation of the northern part really can't be put off, given the almost critical state in some places," said Jan Šurovský, DPP's technical director for surface transport (our translation). Meanwhile temporary trams 30 and 37 and night tram 90 run through Palmovka and Ohrada to Spojovací, and replacement buses (X9 by day, X95 and X98 at night) run through Ohrada to Vozovna Žižkov.

Libeň. From 2 November, until further notice (PID expects about a month), the Nádraží Libeň bus stop towards Vysočanská moves 65 metres back, into the railway underpass on K Žižkovu, PID says.

Saturday 28 November. PID's November overview lists a planned closure between Palmovka and Vozovna Žižkov, both ways, from 09:00 to 15:30. It's marked as still being prepared and PID says the details will follow, so check nearer the day.

What does it mean if you rent or buy?

Mostly a weekend to plan around: every change is temporary. If you live in Karlín, Libeň, Vysočany or Žižkov, allow more time on 7–8 November. If you have viewings there that weekend, check the route the day before. A listing's transit score on Bytky is built from PID's timetables at the weekday morning peak, so a weekend closure doesn't change it. For how the districts compare, see our Prague neighbourhoods guide.

What happens next?

  • Monday 9 November, about 04:30: trams run between Florenc and Palmovka again.
  • Friday 13 November, about 04:30: the junction closure and the Florenc bus stop changes end.
  • Saturday 28 November: a planned closure between Palmovka and Vozovna Žižkov.
  • Friday 18 December: the planned end of the Žižkov – Ohrada closure.
